Frequently asked questions

Everything youneed to know

Each monthly report gives you a comprehensive view of your organisation’s media and social presence for the period. It covers:

  • Executive summary — headline metrics including total mentions, potential reach, and net sentiment score compared to the previous period.
  • Media mentions — total mention volume, daily trend, top publications by mention count, and sentiment over time.
  • Theme analysis — AI-generated breakdown of the predominant themes appearing in your coverage, with source attribution.
  • Sentiment analysis — positive, negative and neutral breakdown with AI-identified drivers behind each sentiment category.
  • Key message penetration — how well your organisation’s core messages are being communicated and emphasised in media coverage.
  • Coverage by country and region — where in the world your organisation is being mentioned, with rankings and trend indicators.
  • Top articles — the highest-reach individual articles mentioning your organisation during the period.
  • Top publications and journalists — ranked by mention volume, with sentiment indicators for each.
  • Social echo — how your coverage is being shared across social platforms, including the most-shared articles.

Pro clients also receive sector benchmarking, competitive media mentions, and written analyst commentary on the period’s key developments.

Yes — your searches are yours to configure. While each tier gives you a set number of monitoring searches, how you allocate them is entirely up to you. A Growth client could run two media monitoring searches across different topics, or two social listening searches. A Pro client could run all three as media monitoring. We work with you at the outset to understand what matters most and configure your searches accordingly.

Most monitoring tools give you a dashboard — and then leave you to figure out the rest. Getting meaningful intelligence out of them requires time, expertise, and ongoing management your team may not have. Our service handles everything: search configuration, monitoring, filtering, and delivery. You receive clear, curated reporting without the software overhead. For most mission-driven organisations, the value of having it done well outweighs the cost of doing it yourself.

We ask for a minimum three-month commitment. This gives us time to configure your searches properly, establish a baseline for your coverage, and start delivering reports that are genuinely useful. After three months, your service continues on a monthly rolling basis and can be cancelled with 30 days notice.

After your initial three-month term, yes. You can cancel with 30 days written notice at any time. We don’t lock clients into long contracts — we’d rather earn your continued business by delivering intelligence you find genuinely useful.

Yes. Each search can be updated once per month at no additional charge — useful if your priorities shift, you want to refine your terms, or you’re responding to a new issue or campaign. Additional changes within the same month are available at a flat fee. We encourage you to treat your search as a living configuration rather than a set-and-forget tool.

Yes. Your alert thresholds can be adjusted to reflect what a meaningful spike looks like for your organisation. If you have a campaign launching, a policy moment, or an event where coverage is likely to increase, we can temporarily lower the trigger threshold so you’re notified earlier. Just let your account contact know ahead of the moment.

Yes. Real-time alerts are triggered by coverage spikes and sentiment shifts — these are sent as they happen. Your weekly digest cadence can be adjusted to daily if you prefer more frequent updates. Report frequency is set by your tier but can be discussed if your needs differ.

There’s no limit on the number of recipients for your digests and reports. We can distribute to your full communications team, senior leadership, or any combination of internal stakeholders. Just share your distribution list when we set up your service.

Our media monitoring is powered by Meltwater’s global intelligence platform, covering 270,000+ news sources across 30+ countries and multiple languages. Coverage is configured around your priorities — if your work spans specific regions or language markets, we set up your search terms and filters accordingly. Speak to us if you have specific geographic or language requirements and we’ll confirm what’s available.
