Researchers in Agriculture for International Development (RAID)
Cultivate created a dynamic promotional film for RAID to introduce the network’s mission, raise awareness of career pathways in agricultural research for development and inspire more Australian students, researchers and early career professionals to get involved.
As a program of the Crawford Fund for Food Security, RAID plays an important role in connecting, engaging and supporting early to mid-career researchers with an interest in agriculture and international development. The film needed to capture this sense of purpose while speaking directly to the next generation of leaders in agricultural research.
We worked with RAID to develop a two-minute film that could be used at events, on the RAID website and across social media. It was also created for screening at the Crawford Fund Annual Conference, helping introduce RAID to a highly relevant audience of researchers, students, policymakers and international development professionals.
Rather than rely on a traditional organisational explainer, we developed an energetic, people-led narrative. RAID members speak directly to camera while walking forward, creating a strong sense of momentum, confidence and invitation. Their personal stories are balanced with b-roll from international development contexts, helping connect individual career pathways with the broader global impact of agricultural research.
The film features real examples from two RAID members, showing how careers in agricultural research for development can be practical, meaningful and globally connected. It highlights RAID’s role in building networks, opening opportunities and supporting researchers who want their work to contribute to sustainable change.
We delivered scriptwriting, storyboard and speaker preparation, helping participants deliver confident, authentic messages on camera. We also coordinated logistics across filming locations in Canberra, managed the videographer and edited the video bringing in graphic design and motions graphics to create a polished final film with pace, clarity and purpose.
The result is a vibrant promotional film that communicates RAID’s identity, its connection to the Crawford Fund for Food Security and the value of joining a national network of researchers committed to agricultural development. Designed for live events, digital channels and ongoing recruitment, the film gives RAID a strong and flexible communications asset to inspire future members and collaborators.
RAID Network is a program of the Crawford Fund for Food Security and is supported with funding from the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).
